Day 2: Arusha to Ndutu to Southern Serengeti Calving Season

After breakfast, depart Arusha and travel towards Ndutu, passing through the scenic landscapes of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area before entering the Southern Serengeti ecosystem. During the December to April calving season, the Ndutu plains become one of the most spectacular wildlife areas in Tanzania. The nutrient rich short grass provides excellent grazing for the migrating wildebeest and zebras, while the concentration of newborn animals attracts numerous predators. After arriving in the Ndutu area, enjoy an afternoon game drive through the calving plains, searching for wildebeest, zebra, gazelles, lions, cheetahs, hyenas and other wildlife. As the sun begins to set, continue to your camp for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Stay: Ang’ata Migration Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 3: Full Day Ndutu Game Drive Serengeti Calving Season

Wake early for an unforgettable sunrise game drive in Ndutu, when the plains are at their most active. You may return to camp for breakfast before continuing your exploration, or choose a full day bush experience with packed breakfast and lunch. Spend the day exploring the Ndutu calving grounds, where the Great Migration gathers during the calving season. Watch newborn wildebeest and zebra calves take their first steps while predators patrol the surrounding plains. With patience and a little luck, you may encounter lions, cheetahs, hyenas and other predators hunting across the open grasslands. The combination of abundant wildlife, dramatic predator activity and spectacular scenery makes Ndutu one of the most rewarding places to experience the Great Migration in Tanzania.

Stay: Ang’ata Migration Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater Game Drive & Return to Arusha

After an early breakfast, depart Ndutu and continue towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater for an extended game drive across its spectacular wildlife rich floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Tanzania’s most remarkable wildlife destinations and offers excellent opportunities to see buffaloes, elephants, hippos, hyenas, zebras, wildebeest, lions and, with luck, the endangered black rhino. Enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the dramatic scenery before ascending the crater walls and beginning the journey back to Arusha. Arrive in Arusha in the evening, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport or Arusha Airport for your onward journey.
