Frequently asked questions
Which Tanzania destination is best for a first safari?
The Serengeti for open plains, big cats and the Great Migration, Ngorongoro Crater for dense wildlife in one day, and Tarangire for large elephant herds in the dry season. Most first itineraries combine these three, often with Lake Manyara.
How many days do I need to see the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater?
Plan at least 4 to 5 days to include the Serengeti and a morning in Ngorongoro Crater without rushing. Six to seven days lets you add Tarangire or Lake Manyara.
Which parks are in northern Tanzania and which are in the south?
The northern circuit includes the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire, Lake Manyara and Arusha National Park. Nyerere (Selous), Mikumi and Ruaha lie in the south and are usually reached by road or a short flight.
Can I add Zanzibar or Mount Kilimanjaro to a safari?
Yes. Zanzibar fits at the end of a safari for beach time, and Kilimanjaro is usually climbed before or after one. We plan the order and the transfers for you.
